Welcome to the first Taking Care of Mommy Monday!
And Happy new year!
When I first started my blog I was doing taking care of me Mondays, but I didn’t follow through with the series. Even though I truly enjoyed writing those post, because I was really trying to take better care of myself. And I was holding myself accountable while sharing it with the world.
While I have some selfish reasons for starting this series back up (and giving it a new name.) I really do like helping and inspiring other women and mom’s out there to actually take some time to take care of ourselves.
I have set some major goals for myself this year and I shared them in a post called Nine Goals to Set in 2017 for the Depressed Stay at Home Mom. Check it out, but note that these goals could be set for any mom, not just the depressed stay at home mom.
One of the most important goals I have set for myself this year is to take more time for myself. I am proud to say that I have already started to put that goal into action!
The night before New Years Eve I spent the evening pampering myself.
After the kids went to bed I started out with a gelatin and milk mask to clean out my pores and black heads. I would highly recommend it! The crap that mask pulled out of my pores was so gross, but so satisfying!
If you are using those expensive pore cleaning strips and want to save some money, but still get the same results (if not better) than try it! I promise it will be worth it!
Here’s how I did it:
I took 1/2 teaspoon gelatin and mixed in 1 teaspoon milk. (1:2 ratio I have found to work very well.) Once mixed well I heat the mixture in the microwave for about 5 seconds. You just want it warm, so test with your finger before applying the mixture to your clean and dry face. Once completely dry, peel off all that nastiness.
A few notes if your going to try this. The mixture starts to set rather quickly once heated, so work fast. Also, if using as a full mask, use major caution. It is a bit painful in sensitive areas of the face. I only use it on my nose and chin, as that’s where my pores are typically the most clogged. And rinse the container you use very quickly! If you have sensitive skin, try adding in a bit of honey.
After my pores were all cleaned out, I took a nice relaxing bath with a Santa Bomb I found at target. It smelled so good and made my bath water nice and pink. I sat in the bath with a soothing green tea mask on.
I felt so relaxed and refreshed! I truly felt like I was taking care of mommy for once.
It was a great start to reaching all the goals I have set for myself this year!
Next Monday I will be sharing how I checked off another goal for myself by getting a new hair style.
How have you been taking care of mommy this week? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
Don’t forget mommy’s, we cant be the best mommy to our kids if we aren’t taking care of ourselves. See you next week!
